We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a specialist manufacturing company based in Southport.
The Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer
We seek a versatile and well-rounded Manufacturing Engineer who can write CNC programs with CNC machining experience. The role involves joining our Engineering Department and integrating with the team immediately.
The Requirements for the Manufacturing Engineer
The successful candidate will need experience programming Mazak and Doosan 3- and 4-axis CNC milling machines, and ideally have used FeatureCAM software.
Understanding FANUC code, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, calculating cutting speeds and feeds, and experience in introducing and implementing new products are essential.
Experience with Mazak Millturn machines would be desirable.
The candidate should be a team player and adaptable in their approach to duties.
Engineering Department – Quality Ownership, Awareness & Expectations:
* Poke-Yoke Devices: Always seek to develop and use poka-yoke devices to minimize errors in production.
* In Process Gauging Reviews: Review gauge listings during process development, create planning and CNC programs, and purchase new gauges as needed.
* Process & Planning Development: Identify tooling, gauging, and inspection needs, and promote the creation of tooling, setup sheets, or SOPs.
* Engineering Changes: Notify quality of any drawing or planning changes, especially when copying planning for similar jobs.
* Special Projects: Take ownership of special processes, support team assignments, and manage related documents.
* Archiving & Revisions: Archive planning files before work, manage revisions correctly in Omnis records.
* Planning Updates: Regularly review and update planning documents, removing invalid notes or references.
* CNC Programs: Develop programs using optimal tools for surface finish and aesthetics, referencing the correct drawing revisions.
* Opsketches: Generate necessary operational sketches or collaborate with design engineers using SolidWorks models.
* NCM Support: Support Non-Conformance Management processes, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
The Rewards/Package for the Manufacturing Engineer role:
* Salary £35,000+ (DOE).
* Working hours are 37 per week, Monday-Thursday, with early finish on Fridays (7:30am-12:30pm). Alternative shift patterns may be considered.
