Brynmawr Foundation School is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and suitably qualified teacher of science to work within our innovative and creative science department. The successful applicant will be an inspirational teacher who is committed to bringing out the best in every student and will be involved in the teaching and delivery of Science to both KS3 and KS4, with a preference for physics specialism.
The successful applicant will have a proven record of strong classroom management and will have high expectations of behaviour, attainment and presentation. We feel strongly that our school vision of Aspiration, Application and Achievement reflects our drive for success and our enthusiasm to encourage.
The science department is a cohesive, collaborative team who support each other and strive for high standards and continual improvement. Staff wellbeing is a top priority and the department has taken measures to ensure all staff have a strong work/life balance. We have developed engaging and motivating thematic units of learning with authentic contexts to underpin our curriculum, whilst developing the skills needed for pupils to be effective learners and aspiring scientists.
There may be an opportunity for an Pastoral Leader TLR for the right candidate.
Applications will be considered from Newly Qualified Teachers; applications would also be welcomed from candidates returning to work after a career break. Our NQTs have access to training sessions with key staff, an internal mentor and a subject specialist mentor. Through the NQT programme there is also external support provided throughout the academic year.
Brynmawr Foundation School offers a positive, friendly and welcoming environment. Brynmawr has excellent transport links with Cardiff (45 minutes), Newport (35 minutes) and Swansea (60 minutes). Many staff travel from these cities and car share is available.
