Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day expertise to the Offshore Cables Engineering team on cable design, analysis and hardware design activities.
* Support junior team members with training, guidance and knowledge transfer.
* Design HVAC Inter Array Cables and HVDC Interconnectors up to 525kV, collaborating with HVDC and onshore converter station teams.
* Conduct detailed design engineering, collaborating with Proposals, Purchasing, Project Management, Quality and Production teams.
* Review client specifications, vendor documentation and GIS data to advise on subsea cable routing and CBRA/BAS requirements.
Deliverables
* Electrical & mechanical designs, calculations, specifications and report writing for HVAC and HVDC cables.
* Thermal and current rating studies, power ratings, short‑circuit calculations and pull‑in calculations.
* Dynamic analysis with Orcaflex, fatigue analysis and on‑bottom stability using DNV Stablelines.
* Windfarm layout designs, general arrangement drawings, scope of supply drawings and decommissioning procedures.
* Cable accessory specification generation and protection system specification support procurement activities.
Qualifications
* Strong understanding of HVAC Inter Array Cable and Export cable design, including 66kV – 132kV HVAC cables, current rating and thermal calculations.
* Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD; ability to adapt to bespoke software packages.
* Capable of creating engineered solutions, coordinating cross‑departmentally with internal teams and external vendors.
* Proficient dynamic analysis using Orcaflex and knowledge of software for dynamic cable modelling.
* Excellent communication skills; client‑facing and able to support Project Managers and Lead Offshore Engineers.
* Understanding of UXO and cable installation, handling and maintenance is desirable.
* Willingness to travel to client sites and vendor engagements as required.
