The Royal Borough of Greenwich has a substantial residential property acquisitions programme, aimed at increasing its housing stock for both permanent and temporary homes. We are seeking a confident, well organised and highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to provide support to a small team within the Directorate of Place and Growth that is responsible for delivering the programme. Although not essential, previous experience in a property related field and basic knowledge of building construction would be an advantage. Whilst the role is fundamentally administrative in nature, you will be expected to work on your own initiative to assist in the successful delivery of the target number of acquisitions within the required timescale. Being experienced and proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, you will accurately maintain an Excel spreadsheet that holds all information relating to the acquisitions programme, ensuring the integrity of the data at all times and making regular backups. You will use online property search sites (Rightmove, Zoopla etc.) to identify potentially suitable properties and liaise with estate agents to obtain detailed information. You will collate all relevant information relating to each potential property purchase and ensure that it is correctly organised in individual property folders in cloud storage (Microsoft OneDrive). You will liaise with internal building surveyors and external solicitors to progress and monitor ongoing acquisitions to ensure that they are completed without delay. Post completion, you will liaise with Asset Management to ensure that any necessary repairs and improvements are completed as quickly as possible so as to minimise void periods. The acquisitions programme is part funded the Greater London Authority (GLA) and in order to claim grant funding, each acquisition must be accurately entered on the GLA Open Project System (OPS). The system requires a considerable amount of detailed information to be input and you will take responsibility for entering the information on the system, obtaining details from other departments/teams as necessary. Previous experience of using OPS would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be provided. This role offers scope for personal development along with an exciting opportunity to improve lives and help to further the Council’s ‘Our Greenwich Missions’ by becoming part of a team that is making an important contribution to the provision of affordable housing within the borough.
