About the Opportunity
A leading international M&E contractor in London is seeking an experienced MEP Commercial Manager / MEP Quantity Surveyor Lead to support the delivery of large-scale Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Industrial and Commercial construction projects.
This is a senior role focused on commercial management, cost control, contract administration, and financial delivery across high-value MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) packages, working on mission-critical infrastructure and complex engineering projects.
The Role – MEP Commercial Manager
As MEP Commercial Manager, you will take full responsibility for the commercial performance of MEP packages, managing cost planning, procurement, subcontractor management, contract administration, and financial reporting across multiple projects.
You will work closely with Project Directors, Construction Managers, and Senior Stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on budget, on programme, and in line with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities of the MEP Commercial Manager
* Lead MEP commercial management and cost control across Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Industrial and Commercial construction projects.
* Manage full commercial lifecycle, including cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
* Oversee procurement and subcontractor management, including tendering, negotiation, appointment, and performance management of MEP subcontractors and suppliers.
* Administer contracts under NEC, JCT, and FIDIC contract forms, ensuring compliance and protecting commercial position.
* Manage variations, change management, claims, and dispute resolution, ensuring timely submission and agreement of all commercial matters.
* Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities, driving project profitability and margin improvement.
* Lead and mentor MEP Quantity Surveyors and commercial teams, ensuring high performance and delivery standards.
* Prepare and present cost reports, CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliation), and commercial updates to senior management.
* Lead final account negotiations and project close-out, ensuring successful financial completion of projects.
* Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams, ensuring alignment across all commercial and contractual activities.
Necessary Requirements of the MEP Commercial Manager
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or strong trades background (M&E) with demonstrated experience in a similar role.
* 10+ years’ experience as an MEP Commercial Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or Commercial Lead within M&E contracting or construction.
* Proven experience delivering MEP packages on Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Industrial, or Commercial projects.
* Strong knowledge of:
* Cost management and commercial control
* Contract administration (NEC, JCT, FIDIC)
* Procurement and subcontractor management
* Variation management and claims
* Experience managing large-scale MEP projects (£20M+ packages).
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring commercial teams / Quantity Surveyors.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across clients, consultants, and project teams.
* Strong focus on profitability, risk management, and financial performance.
