ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
This position is full time, 40hrs a week working 4 on 2 off, 2x 0600-1400, 2x 1400-2200, 2 off.
As an ABM cleaning/waste operative your role will be to deliver cleaning services to client facilities in and around the building to a high standard. As an external shopping centre this role is indoors and outdoors throughout the day. This position is essential for supporting our tailored facility solutions that not only meet but exceed the expectations of our client, promoting a sustainable environment while providing opportunities for personal and professional growth withing our company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Mermaid Quay is an external centre and will entail working outdoors on the mall.
2. Conduct regular waste collection and disposal duties throughout the shopping centre.
3. Monitor waste levels in bins and initiate timely collections to prevent overflow.
4. Ensure that waste management areas are kept tidy and always organised.
5. Collaborate with other team members to implement best practices in the waste management.
6. Report any maintenance issues with waste bins or collections to management.
7. Adhere to health and safety regulations while handling waste materials in the centre.
8. Conduct regular litter picks and general cleaning of the external aspect of Mermaid Quay.
9. Overnight pressure washing of paving.
10. Use of cleaning machines internally and externally.
11. Assist team leaders/supervisors when needed to ensure optimum service to clients
12. Perform additional duties as needed, within reason
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
13. Previous experience in waste management or similar role preferred.
14. Strong understanding of waste disposal and recycling practices.
15. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
16. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
17. Strong communication skills to interact with management, tenants and members of the public.
18. Physical fitness and ability to carry out manual handling tasks related to waste handling.
19. Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, overnight and cover holidays.
