Overview
Our KB Distribution team is seeking a Dispatch Manager to lead a dedicated dispatch operation at our Knightsbridge location. The role focuses on delivering exceptional service for in-store purchases, ensuring orders are packed, processed and dispatched safely, on time and in line with service level agreements. Reporting to the Delivery Operations Manager, you will lead the Dispatch team to uphold Harrods’ service standards and drive operational excellence across deliveries, post and courier services. This role is on-site and hands-on, requiring strong organisation, clear communication and the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop the Dispatch team to maintain productivity, engagement and adherence to Harrods policies and standards.
- Manage recruitment, rosters, attendance, performance and training, including manual handling, forklift and hazardous materials compliance.
- Oversee all deliveries, van dispatch routes and driver productivity; ensure road safety, vehicle checks and fleet maintenance are completed.
- Manage the in-house Post Room and Courier Desk; build effective relationships with external courier partners.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping across deliveries, payroll, absences, productivity reporting and SAP scanning.
- Maintain smooth operation of dispatch systems and equipment; escalate IT and Delivery Operations Manager as required.
- Uphold housekeeping and health and safety standards across all dispatch and warehouse areas.
- This role requires full on-site presence, typically five days out of seven.
About You & Qualifications
- Experience as an operational leader in a logistics, dispatch, warehouse or distribution setting; confident managing people, processes and performance.
- Proven experience as a people manager with performance management, coaching and team development.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Comfortable working with systems, data and reporting to monitor productivity and service levels.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Strong awareness of health and safety, manual handling and compliance requirements.
- Physical fitness is important for this operational role.
