Polytec are looking for an experienced Test Technician to join the Design Assurance team of our client based in Cambridge.
Responsibilities
• Conduct life testing and design verification of instruments and consumables, following established protocols and using both custom-built and standard testing equipment.
• Accurately document work activities, including writing detailed test reports and maintaining comprehensive records.
• Track and communicate test progress to the Design Assurance Lead and relevant task managers.
• Reprocess medical devices using manual cleaning methods, automated washer disinfectors, and autoclaves.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to streamlining testing procedures.
• Assist in the creation and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Assemble test rigs, jigs, and fixtures as needed.
• Manage lab inventory through regular stock checks and maintenance.
• Promote and uphold best practices in lab organization and cleanliness.
Requirements
• Hands-on experience in high-tech assembly and testing, ideally within regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, automotive, or aerospace.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records (e.g., serial numbers, test documentation).
• Solid computer skills: familiarity with command line tools and remote desktop applications is a plus.
• Experience using measurement and testing equipment.
• A proactive approach to maintaining lab supplies and ensuring a tidy workspace.
• Capability to manage and maintain test and measurement tools.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical/electronic schematics for product or test rig assembly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
• A collaborative mindset, working effectively with peers and teams to achieve shared goals.
• Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to take on a variety of tasks.
