The Cyber Security Operations Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of the University's operational cyber security functions. This includes overseeing day-to-day cyber security operations, coordinating effective incident response, and maintaining the university's cyber incident response plans to ensure operational resilience and business continuity.
The post-holder manages relationships with external security service providers, including a Security Operations Centre (SOC), vulnerability management providers, and other pen testing services. The role is responsible for overseeing cyber security compliance functions, ensuring adherence to internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
As a Cyber Security Operations Manager you can expect to be involved in:
* Lead the day-to-day operations of the University's cyber security defence functions to ensure rapid detection and response to threats.
* Manage relationships with outsourced cyber security providers, ensuring high-quality delivery of SOC services, vulnerability assessments, and red teaming engagements.
* Maintain and develop the University's cyber incident response plans, ensuring preparedness and regular testing.
* Provide expert input into the development and application of cyber security policies, risk management processes, and compliance frameworks.
* Lead and manage the cyber operations team, promoting professional development, collaboration, and high performance.
What will you will bring to the role ?
* Degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in cyber security/IT operations
* Significant experience in cyber security operations, including vulnerability monitoring and management
* Proven ability to manage high-pressure situations, particularly in leading or coordinating cyber security incident response
* Proven understanding of common security frameworks and compliance standards
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
* High level of analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
