Overview
NCH&C Trust is a modern and inclusive NHS community trust. This vacancy is for a Community Intravenous Nurse delivering free, bespoke IV therapy in patients’ own homes and occasionally nursing homes/community inpatient settings. The role is part of a new, high‑performing community health service and is advertised by Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust.
Responsibilities
 * Liaise directly with team members across acute and community services, monitoring all aspects of patients’ responses to treatment.
 * Visit patients at scheduled times, assessing and maintaining vascular access devices.
 * Sample and monitor blood reports, ensuring safe delivery of prescribed IV therapy.
 * Replace IV access within competency skill‑set.
 * Perform routine investigations such as observations/NEWS scoring.
 * Discuss concerns with the IV clinical lead, escalating when required.
 * Plan and prioritise own caseload according to service targets and patient need.
 * Ensure patient records are completed and SystmOne inputting is done daily.
 * Use universal precautions and adhere to infection control policies.
 * Provide clinical advice and training to less experienced staff.
Qualifications & Experience
Extensive training and support will be provided once in post, but previous IV experience is desirable. The post holder will be competent in numerous nursing skills, including intravenous cannulation, IV line management, phlebotomy, and advanced sensory skills. A dynamic, patient‑focused calibre is required.
