All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory right‑to‑work checks. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK. At the present time TfL is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.
Transport for London (TfL) is responsible for the management of more than 25,000 street trees, 1,120,000m2 of woodland, 2,000,000m2 of grass and hundreds of miles of trackside trees and vegetation. The Green Infrastructure (GI) Team is based in the TfL Engineering Directorate and provides support and advice to all parts of the organisation about GI issues, as well as working closely with external stakeholders in the arboriculture, horticulture and environment industries. This GI support is a critical part of ensuring that TfL meets its policy objectives as set out in the Mayor’s Transport Strategy and achieving our vision to be a strong, green heartbeat for London.
We are currently looking for someone to join our established team as an Arboriculture & Landscape Specialist. Day-to-day you will be supporting the Senior Arboriculture & Landscape Specialists with a focus on auditing tree surveys, assisting with planting trials, providing general arboricultural advice, reviewing and contributing to designs, and advising on planting programmes. You’ll make sure our GI assets are safe and protected; develop your own solutions; work with the team to continually improve the way we do things and be a trusted source of technical advice for everyone including stakeholders.
This is an excellent opportunity to support and learn from an experienced team, as you grow into the role you will build your career and expertise. You will gain experience in managing a large treestock and contributing to an unparalleled scale, scope and variety of projects such as largescale infrastructure projects; the creation of raingardens; and the expansion of our wildflower verges. You will collaborate with our colleagues across the business in all manner of areas such as GIS, planning, policy, engineering, and customer services. You must have a passion for trees and landscape, and for improving the urban environment because at TfL you would be responsible for contributing to a healthier, greener city.
You should be a Member of the Arboricultural Association or similar organisation and will have good arboricultural knowledge as well as an understanding of horticulture and the environment. Qualified to level 4 in an appropriate subject, you will have a good understanding of best industry practice, legislation and relevant regulations and guidance. You will be expected to represent the GI Team internally and TfL externally and to be committed to your own continuous professional development.
