The job itself
About the recipient
Applicants wanted to work with a 6-year-old with hemiplegia and epilepsy and Autistic traits. This young person requires the use of their buggy as they can be unstable on their feet and struggle to move around. Their seizures are very rare and tend to occur when they are poorly. Applicants would be working as part of a 2:1 support team.
This young person is non-verbal but can communicate needs through babbling. This young boy is very active and enjoys activities such trampolining, outdoor parks and scenic walks. They are also very sensory and enjoy spending time with sensory items such as musical toys. They however dislike busy environments, loud noises and swings and rides.
Due to this young persons needs, the applicant will need to SEN experienced and comfortable with delivering personal care. Driving is not essential but welcomed. Family are willing to travel to applicants to drop off for sessions.
About the role

3. Settling and supporting the individual.
4. Keeping them safe in the community.
5. Helping to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
6. Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
7. Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.

The suitable candidate must:
8. Be conscientious and committed to providing support as necessary for the child.
9. Be patient, caring and understanding.
10. Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to both encourage and support them.
11. Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
12. Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.
