Sport Welfare Project Officer
Contract: Fixed term until March 2027
Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week (flexible working options available)
Location: Home-based with national travel
Reports to: Strategic Lead - Welfare
About the role:
Active Partnerships seeks a Sport Welfare Project Officer to support a national safeguarding and culture change initiative in sport. This fixed-term role involves practical support, insight, and collaboration to enhance safeguarding and welfare across grassroots sport.
This role involves connecting and coordinating 63 Sport Welfare Officers nationwide, providing tools, support, and fostering relationships to enable their success. The role supports gathering insights, operational support, resource development, and being a reliable contact for the network, contributing to cultural change in sport.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Deliver the national Sport Welfare Officer Programme effectively in collaboration with the central team.
* Build positive relationships with Sport Welfare Officers and stakeholders including Sport England, CPSU, and ACT.
* Review evaluation submissions, extract insights, and inform future activities.
* Create reports to help programme leads understand progress and needs.
* Coordinate project activities such as meetings, events, and follow-ups.
* Assist with large-scale events in partnership with the communications team.
* Support development of tools, templates, and guidance to improve safeguarding practices.
* Ensure content and communications are inclusive and accessible.
* Maintain good admin, communication, and teamwork to meet deadlines.
* Travel approximately once or twice a month to regional and national events, with occasional overnight stays.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and communicate sensitively.
* Excellent organization and time management, especially in remote work.
* Openness to collaboration with diverse perspectives.
* Clear written communication tailored to different audiences.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback to inform decisions.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing principles.
* Proficiency with digital tools like email, video conferencing, and shared documents.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
* Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Work Environment and Support:
* Home-based with regular online meetings.
* Travel 1-2 times per month for events.
* Overnight stays 3-4 times per year for national events.
* Flexible working arrangements considered.
* Option for co-working or local office space if preferred.
