Job Introduction
A member of the Operations Team and a named competent person, responsible for ensuring robust policies and procedures are in place across all areas of production, while leading a hands-on, multi-skilled team to deliver high-quality food safely, on time, and within budget. The role also drives cross-functional coordination, operational excellence, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement to deliver maximum value for the business and its customers.
Role Responsibility
Key Accountabilities
Through appropriate policies and training ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone in team
To lead and manage the Production team instilling best practices to ensure best cost use of Labour
To ensure all budgets are delivered
Measures Of Performance
Team Engagement as measured by the GPTW survey
KPI's (labour, waste, budgets, delivery of improvements, material variance, people metrics)
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety:
* Ensure the consistent application of Bigham's safety management system
* Root cause of all accidents and prevention of reoccurring near misses
* Conduct risk assessments and document safe systems of work for all production tasks
* Ensure Safety Observations are part of the weekly H&S agenda
Operations
* Lead and manage the production team through role model behaviour, ensuring targets are clear, results achieved, displayed and communicated
* Analyses problems, accounts for variances, drives for root cause to deliver on KPI's
* Understand the labour budget and work with your team to achieve each day.
* Ensure clear ways of working and training standards are in place for all activities, and that these are supported by a training plan to engage and empower the team to become multi-skilled
* Drive a culture of change, by engaging, coaching and developing the Bigham's teams
* Execute a levelled production plan.
* Work with NFD to ensure lean principles are built into product & process developments
KPI reporting
* Able to be hands on running equipment on the production line as required and be fully conversant with the operations of all production assets and able to support production on an as needs basis
* Manage the team rota
Environmental Management
* Support Bigham's environmental management activity through active communication and engagement with the team
* Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement and support implementation programmes to deliver these.
Site Standards
* Ensure that Bigham's is kept clean and tidy and site standards are not compromised.
General
* Ensure regular and effective communication on all production matters (team brief, comms and site reporting)
* Demonstrate and actively promote Bigham's 5 key behaviors (Goal orientated, Respect, Involvement, Pride, Daring and excitement
* Work within the company's rules and policies, introducing procedures where appropriate in conjunction with technical documentation requirements.
* Adhere to the health and safety policy of the company and work within it's guidelines to always ensure personal safety of staff.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience And Knowledge
* Demonstrable experience of working in a production management role in a food production or similar organisation including the development and implementation of policies and procedures and management of high performing teams
* Previous experience of managing a budget including forecasting and reporting of expenditure
* Chilled food environment

* Analytical thinker and experienced at route cause analysis and problem solving

* Computer user of MS Office (word, excel, outlook,powerpoint)
