Owens Group is looking to recruit an enthusiastic & conscientious HGV Technician - Afternoon Shift to support our Carrington operation, with a Monday-Friday or Sunday-Thursday day shift pattern. Hours to be discussed at interview.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical knowledge/advice/skill to other team members ensuring the best decisions are made.
* Carry out weekly inspections of vehicles
* Travel around local sites
* Carry out preventative planned maintenance/repairs
* Diagnose and repair trailers dealing with mechanical breakdowns and damage to restore vehicles to required performance in order to minimise or avoid unnecessary delays.
* Possible Call-outs
* Carry out all other duties as directed by the Company
* Availability to cover call outs
* Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot issues effectively.
* Use hand tools and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
* Weld components as necessary to ensure structural integrity.
* Assemble parts and systems according to specifications.
* Operate forklifts safely to move trailers and equipment within the workshop.
* Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
* Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their trailer needs.
Experience
* Proven experience in mechanical repair, preferably with trailers or similar equipment.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems related to trailer functionality.
* Familiarity with using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
* Experience operating forklifts is advantageous but not essential; training may be provided.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Strong communication skills, demonstrating an ability to provide quality customer service.
