Job Description
The Receptionist has a varied and interesting role. The activities in a Leisure Centre are wide ranging and the involvement with people is continuous. This allows for an exciting day, using your skills on a diverse range of jobs. Primary objectives for the Receptionist will be:
* Ensure that all the people who enter the Leisure Centre receive a friendly, polite and efficient service.
* Create a favourable first impression of the Leisure Centre.
* Have a good range of knowledge regarding the Leisure Centre.
Day‑to‑Day Tasks
* Work individually or as part of a team to ensure that customers’ needs are understood and met.
* Provide a warm, friendly and professional service with a high standard of customer care at all times to generate customer loyalty.
* Assist customers with booking requirements and receive payments for use of the centre’s facilities.
* Answer telephone calls efficiently and effectively within company standards.
* Use the Parkwood social media platforms, website and app to assist customers with any issues.
* Control customers entering the Leisure Centre, issuing receipts where required.
* Enforce relevant Health and Safety policies and procedures, raising concerns to management when necessary.
* Follow financial procedures for cash handling and reconciliation of monies.
* Operate communication systems at the Leisure Centre, such as the public address system and telephones.
* Communicate messages effectively to the rest of the leisure centre team.
* Follow the procedures for new gym memberships.
* Operate a computerised front‑of‑house system that includes different booking systems and processes payments for point‑of‑sale products.
* Promote and control items for resale and hire.
* Deal with customer complaints or comments as per company procedures.
* Keep the reception clean, tidy and a pleasant environment.
* Undertake any other duties as may be required to assist in the running of the Centre.
Qualifications
* GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above, or equivalent; minimum RSA Level 1.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly disposition.
* Competent in operating tills and a variety of computer programmes.
* High level of confidentiality and strong organisational skills.
* Effective communication with customers, clients and staff.
* Clear identification with all customer requirements.
