Role Overview
We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in piping, tanks, valves, and rotating equipment, ideally within COMAH-regulated environments. You'll act as the technical authority for mechanical systems, ensuring design integrity, regulatory compliance, and equipment optimisation across terminals and pipeline infrastructure. This is a flexible role with regular travel across North West Europe.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead on mechanical scope (valves, piping, pumps, rotating machinery).
* Ensure engineering design complies with API, EN, EEMUA, ASME standards.
* Manage spec/design/maintenance of tanks, vessels, pumps, jetty systems, and boilers.
* Participate in HAZOPs, HAZIDs, and FMEAs.
* Apply and manage MOC processes across sites.
* Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, and commissioning of equipment.
* Support asset integrity across ageing infrastructure.
* Provide technical assurance for safety-critical tasks in COMAH sites.
* Participate in the Operational Duty Manager rota.
Key Skills & Experience
* Mechanical Engineering degree or extensive project experience.
* Strong background in tank, piping, and valve specification and design.
* Certified in COMAH-regulated, high-hazard environments.
* Knowledge of DSEAR (ATEX), PED, PUWER, Machinery Directive, CDM.
* Must be CEng
* Excellent report writing, communication, and stakeholder management.
* Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
