We are looking for a proactive and organised individual to support our administrative team over the summer period. This is a fixed-term opportunity and would suit someone looking to gain experience in a busy NHS primary care setting, for example, those considering a future career in medicine, nursing, or allied health professions.
Post is temporary and will end in September 2026, with no expectation of extension.
Main duties of the job
* Support processing of referrals and onward care pathways
* Manage incoming clinical correspondence and documents
* Update patient records accurately on EMIS
* Assist with general administrative tasks to support the team
* Ensure timely and accurate handling of patient information
* File, scan, and code documents in line with practice protocols
* Liaise with clinical and administrative staff to ensure smooth workflow
* Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection standards at all times
Person Specification
Experience
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
* Reliable and professional approach to work
* Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office or equivalent)
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Understanding of basic medical terminology
* Interest in working within healthcare or the NHS
* Previous administrative experience
* Familiarity with EMIS or other clinical systems
