About The Role and Person – Capel Manor College is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Horticulture to provide high-quality teaching and learning to Garden Design students. The ideal candidate will deliver and assess to the appropriate examination body standards across Levels 1 to 3 on a range of subjects related to Horticulture, including but not limited to Amenity Horticulture, Plant Science, Propagation, Soil Science, Machinery, Landscaping and Ecology, and Garden Design. Experience of delivering RHS Level 2 Certificate in Practical and RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth and Development qualifications would be desirable.
The post holder will provide high quality teaching on the College’s Horticulture courses, ensuring effective learning, preparing and delivering stimulating lessons, setting goals, monitoring and assessing progress, giving feedback, and upholding the positive attitudes, values and behaviours expected of students. They will be supported by practical instructors and technicians and must ensure health and safety requirements and regulations are followed at all times.
This role may require travel to Gunnersbury Park and Regents Park.
Responsibilities
* Deliver and assess teaching to appropriate examination body standards across Levels 1 to 3 for Horticulture-related subjects (including Amenity Horticulture, Plant Science, Propagation, Soil Science, Machinery, Landscaping and Ecology, and Garden Design).
* Prepare and deliver stimulating lessons; set challenging goals; monitor and assess student progress; provide constructive feedback.
* Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to; collaborate with practical instructors and technicians for practical learner activities.
* Contribute to the planning and development of Horticulture courses and supports student learning outcomes.
Qualifications
* Degree, HND or other relevant qualification in a related discipline.
* Experience as a Lecturer or relevant industry experience with an ability to pass on skills to students.
* Desirable: experience delivering RHS Level 2 Certificate in Practical and RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth and Development.
* Willingness to travel to Gunnersbury Park and Regents Park as required.
