Job Title: Production Supervisor – Shift Operations

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off
Reports to: Operations Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead our shift operations at a busy, highly regulated chemical manufacturing site. This hands-on role will see you actively managing a team of plant operators, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production while fostering a strong safety-first culture. You will be a visible leader on the plant, driving operational performance and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, supervise, and coordinate a team of shift operators to meet production targets in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner.

Act as the on-shift lead for health, safety, and environmental performance, ensuring all work is conducted in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Manage and issue Permits to Work, ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times.
*
Conduct regular safety walks, toolbox talks, and shift briefings to maintain strong engagement and awareness.
*
Monitor plant operations, troubleshoot issues, and take prompt corrective action when required.
*
Ensure accurate and timely completion of operational logs, shift handovers, and incident reports.
*
Lead by example, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
*
Liaise with maintenance, engineering, and technical teams to ensure safe and timely execution of maintenance activities.
*
Support investigations into incidents, near-misses, and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions where needed.

Contribute to operational improvement projects and efficiency initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
*
Proven supervisory experience in a chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or similarly highly regulated manufacturing environment.
*
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate shift teams.
*
In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, process safety, and safe systems of work.
*
Experience managing Permits to Work and overseeing maintenance or engineering activities.
*
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
*
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
*
Competent in using production control systems, safety reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
*
Relevant technical or vocational qualifications in process operations, chemical engineering, or similar discipline (desirable).
