Trailer Fitter / Trailer Technician
Location: Newark
Salary: Up to £22 per hour
I’m currently recruiting on behalf of a highly respected Specialist Trailer Services depot based on the outskirts of Newark. This business focuses exclusively on trailer systems—not vehicle engines—and has built a strong reputation within the heavy‑haulage and abnormal‑load sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on technician who takes pride in doing the job properly. Whether you’re already experienced with trailers or you’re a skilled mechanic looking to move into a specialist area of the industry, this employer offers the environment and training to help you develop into a true heavy‑haulage specialist.
Key Responsibilities
* Working on standard trailer running gear as well as specialist heavy‑haulage equipment including Nooteboom, Goldhofer, Faymonville, and Doll trailers
* Carrying out full servicing, brake testing, and MOT preparation
* Stripping trailers back to chassis level to diagnose and repair faults
* Working on braking systems, suspension systems, and hydraulics
* Collaborating with the stores team to source specialist parts
* Occasionally attending trailer‑related breakdowns to support customers on‑site
What we are looking for
* Proven experience working on HGV trailers or heavy commercial plant
* A “can‑do” attitude and genuine willingness to develop specialist skills
* A reliable, careful, and methodical approach to work
* Strong teamwork skills and a professional workshop mindset
Candidates with general mechanical backgrounds who want to specialise are strongly encouraged to apply.
