This exciting design engineer opportunity is a chance to grow a pre-existing design team in the infrastructure division. As the Lead Design Engineer, you'll support and mentor emerging engineers. You'll work on construction designs, R&D projects, and project contributions.
Key Responsibilities of a Design Engineer
1. Produce layouts and detailed drawings using AutoCAD and other CAD packages.
2. Contribute to the design and development of products and solutions, including construction-specific structural design solutions (temporary works).
3. Develop new design methods and processes.
4. Lead R&D projects.
5. Liaise with clients and third parties as part of the design process.
6. Maintain confidentiality, observe data protection, and adhere to related guidelines.
7. Support upcoming design engineers within the team to aid growth and progression.
8. Occasional travel within the UK to various site locations.
Competencies: Knowledge & Experience Needed for the Design Engineer Role
* Minimum BEng degree qualification in a relevant Engineering Discipline (e.g., Civil, Mechanical, or similar).
* Minimum 4 years of experience in a relevant design engineering role or similar.
* Ability to produce designs within temporary works, formworks, structural, or mechanical works, including relevant calculations and reports for stakeholder reviews.
* Experienced in using 2D and 3D CAD packages.
* Ability to challenge existing practices and propose new solutions to senior management.
* Ability to discuss complex technical issues with key stakeholders.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
