The outlined duties cover a broad range of responsibilities centred around supporting the effective functioning of a school’s science and technical departments. In terms of health and safety, the role involves assisting in the enforcement of safety procedures, conducting regular visual inspections of equipment such as Bunsen burners, pressure vessels, autoclaves, and electrical devices, and maintaining logs of these checks. The individual also supports the testing and inventory management of electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with safety policies and assisting technicians with portable appliance testing.
The role further involves equipment maintenance, including first-line repairs of audio-visual, electrical, and departmental resources, and coordinating repairs for more complex issues. Supporting departmental activities, the individual helps with stocktaking, chemical requisitions, and preparing materials for experiments and projects. Additionally, the duties extend to managing AV/TV/IT equipment. This includes setting up, operating, and troubleshooting.
