We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will be working in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations.
As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will be constantly looking for ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
You will have a great understanding of your store's performance and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands-on approach.
With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community.
2. Open/close the store and complete duty cover, making decisions that benefit customers, colleagues, and safety.
3. Act as the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for operational queries.
4. Support the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events.
5. Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well-presented.
6. Prioritize replenishment of products important to customers.
7. Maintain accurate point of sale and shelf labels.
8. Address overcharges immediately and prevent reoccurrence.
9. Manage queues proactively to enhance customer experience.
10. Coordinate colleagues to deliver priorities and manage breaks efficiently.
11. Be knowledgeable about store operations and lead improvements.
12. Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
13. Communicate effectively with the team and keep them informed.
14. Share ideas to simplify operations with the Store Manager.
15. Always put the customer first, resolving queries and adjusting service to meet their needs.
16. Recognize colleagues providing excellent service and help remove obstacles to service delivery.
17. Resolve colleague queries or escalate as needed.
18. Ensure appropriate staffing, covering shifts during absences.
19. As a Keyholder, attend alarm call-outs to ensure store security.
20. Monitor and act on internal communications promptly.
21. Balance time across service and replenishment areas.
22. Support in managing store absence, including return-to-work interviews and reporting absences.
23. Build relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, seeking support and coaching opportunities.
24. If the store has a Post Office Local, duties will include managing daily operations and passing necessary background checks.
