About this opportunity
You will be part of Core Banking in the Consumer Relationships Platform, working in the Next Generation Core lab. The lab builds a new core banking platform that supports servicing customers through multiple channels and enables the bank to create new innovative products using groundbreaking cloud‑based technology. You will design and implement enterprise‑grade software that integrates seamlessly with the wider banking ecosystem and the next‑generation ledger (Thought Machine) on public cloud environments.
Responsibilities
 * Collaborate with Product Owners, Platform Leads, Enterprise Architects & Engineers to shape the Architectural runway for Platform teams.
 * Partner with Enterprise Architecture & service providers to elaborate solutions, interfaces, validate technology assumptions, evaluate alternatives and manage risks and dependencies.
 * Provide end‑to‑end solution designs, using relevant architectural building blocks, and produce designs that enable frequent incremental customer value delivery.
 * Own technical design risks or issues and drive resolution through architectural or agile practices.
 * Leverage industry best practice, frameworks, standards and policies to create value for customers.
 * Contribute to the financial investment process to secure funding for key solution opportunities.
 * Define guiding principles and success criteria for platform capability or feature development across Platforms.
 * Provide oversight and foster built‑in quality, decoupled and modernised architectures.
 * Support Product Owners & Platform Leads in assessing software & infrastructure currency risks, offering recommendations and continuously evergreen solutions.
 * Lead and inspire a diverse team to achieve the business strategy.
Qualifications
 * Strong understanding of design patterns and SDLC activities, including unit, system, integration, security and performance testing.
 * Experience integrating with distributed event‑based systems (e.g., Kafka), API gateways and service meshes.
 * Background in systems engineering or solution architecture with Behaviour‑Driven and Test‑Driven Development practices.
 * Proficient in solution & software architecture patterns.
 * Partnered with Enterprise, Security, Data & Infrastructure architects to deliver customer value.
 * Experience in Architectural Governance, Risk Management or Compliance processes.
 * Familiarity with TOGAF, Archimate, Cloud Architectures or similar frameworks.
