We are looking to strengthen our Delivery team with a Senior Project Engineer based in our Severn Trent, WB15 batch region (Leicester area) for a 6-month contract. You will report directly to the Project Manager and will be responsible for managing the design (including challenging solutions and identifying opportunities for innovation), construction, commissioning, and commissioning of contracts to ensure they are completed efficiently, within specifications, on time, and within budget, without compromising health and safety or customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Managing and updating construction programmes to meet key milestones;
2. Participating in collaborative planning sessions with all stakeholders;
3. Preparing and issuing tenders, collating responses, and conducting cost-benefit analyses for award recommendations;
4. Preparing requisitions for procurement;
5. Coordinating technical aspects between engineering and supply chain partners;
6. Managing the site team daily, resolving or escalating issues as needed;
7. Reviewing invoices for errors before approval;
8. Promoting innovation and improved practices to enhance safety and commercial performance;
9. Managing and updating the risk register, including early warning management;
10. Attending safety, progress, and coordination meetings;
11. Reporting on safety incidents and near misses;
12. Preparing pre-start packs and uploading data to systems;
13. Working with the Quantity Surveyor on cost control and monitoring project costs;
14. Leading design liaison meetings;
15. Ensuring adherence to health and safety procedures across all activities.
Essential qualifications and experience include:
* Project management experience;
* Experience with NEC3 contracts;
* Degree or equivalent in a construction-related discipline;
* Excellent communication skills;
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM 2015;
* Experience delivering engineering projects;
* Ability to set and monitor targets and schedules.
Desirable qualifications include:
* Chartered status or near-chartered;
* Water industry experience (non-infrastructure);
* Proficiency with Primavera P6;
* APMP or equivalent certification.
