Job Purpose
The purpose of the technical team is to ensure all products are manufactured to meet safety, quality & legal requirements. The monitoring & maintenance of Company & customer quality assurance systems, food safety audits & HACCP. Working to continuously improve product quality & reduce risks. Supporting the promotion of a food safety & quality culture. Managing, maintaining & monitoring the Food Safety Quality Management system.
The Food Technician will be supporting the Head of Technical and wider Technical Team to ensure we are able to continue to achieve compliance and a high standard of food quality.
This is a full-time role, but part-time may be considered for the right candidate.
Duties
* To support the Head of Technical to ensure the site meets required company & regulatory standards.
* Support the Head of Technical as they manage the Food Safety & Quality Management System. Identify areas for continuous improvement of the quality & HACCP systems.
* Manage & review raw material specifications.
* Microbiological Shelf-Life Tests – liaising with lab, completing paperwork, collecting and packing samples, results filing
* Support the sites allergen management & risk assessment process.
* Help manage the technical team diary. Inclusive of rota, duties, quest, reviews.
* Ensure calibrations, validations & verifications on processes & equipment are carried out & where required certification in date.
* Create process flows & training documents for the production procedures.
* Support with implementation of processes.
* Help develop training material for Production operatives.
* Support Head of food with quality & technical queries.
* Provide practical support to promote Quality assurance & a positive food safety culture.
* Support with the topper room management & consumables ordering
Essential Skills & Experience
* Exceptional analytical, problem solving & decision-making skills.
* Passionate about continuous improvement & ensuring processes are upheld & adhered to.
* Computer literate with proficiency in word, Excel & outlook
* Proven track record in a quality management position within a food environment.
* HACCP certified
* Food safety certification
* Effective communication skills
* High attention to detail
Desirable Skills
* Food safety science background
* Food science qualification or working towards
* Experience & demonstratable understanding of BRCGS, EHO regulations & legislations.
