Scoping Review Contractor: Conflict‑Sensitive Nature‑Based Solutions for Resilience
We, the British Red Cross, are commissioning a scoping review to uncover how locally‑led NbS can incorporate conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding and strengthen resilience in fragile and conflict‑affected settings (FCAS). This short‑term consultancy (self‑employed contractor) is open to registered sole traders or limited companies with the capacity to deliver the tasks outlined in the Terms of Reference.
Location: Home‑based (UK or international)
Schedule: Up to 20 days between November and December 2025
Contract: Self‑employed contractor
Responsibilities
* Conduct a comprehensive review of case studies, reports and academic literature.
* Map key actors and initiatives at the intersection of NbS and FCAS.
* Design and facilitate a Delphi study (or other participatory methodology) to validate findings and identify research priorities.
* Produce high‑quality reports with actionable insights for programming.
Qualifications
* Defined work history in environmental science, peace and conflict, humanitarian/development, or climate resilience.
* Proven experience in desk reviews, qualitative research and participatory methods (e.g., Delphi).
* Strong understanding of NbS, natural resource management and peacebuilding in fragile contexts.
* Excellent analytical, writing and stakeholder engagement skills.

Submit a supporting statement that includes a proposed financial offer and provide at least two examples of reports, publications or research outputs authored or co‑authored by the contractor. Samples should demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: nature‑based solutions, fragile and conflict‑affected settings, environmental science or ecology, peace and conflict studies, climate resilience or sustainability.
