Are you an academic with expertise in construction management and a passion for high-quality teaching? We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Construction Management at Kingston University to support a rapidly growing programme area and contribute to the delivery of an excellent student learning experience.

As a Lecturer in Construction Management, you will play pivotal role in delivering high-quality education and contributing to cutting-edge research in the field of construction project management. Your expertise in all areas of construction project development and delivery following the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) competencies framework, standards and guidance will be essential in shaping the next generation of Construction Managers and advancing our research initiatives.

This role is primarily academic, focusing on teaching, learning, assessment, and curriculum development within construction management. It plays a key part in ensuring our provision remains academically rigorous, industry-informed, and aligned with professional standards and accreditation requirements.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and advancing research in areas including but not limited to project brief development, development appraisals, project finance, design appraisal, cost estimating and budgeting, cost management, contract practice, project control, risk management etc.

You will contribute to both teaching and research excellence, foster industry partnerships, and mentor students at various academic levels. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the application of AI and Machine Learning and other digital tools and technologies in key areas of construction management and demonstrate strong commitment to work towards qualifying as a Chartered Construction Manager (MCIOB) and/or Chartered Project Management Surveyor (MRICS). You will be expected to join our dynamic construction and surveying team to deliver student-centred, high-quality teaching and research.

In addition, as a Lecturer in Construction Management, you will contribute to the delivery of taught modules and the ongoing development of curriculum content. You will play a central role in supporting student learning and maintaining academic quality across the programme.

You will be expected to:

- Deliver high-quality teaching in construction management subject areas

- Contribute to module design, development, and continuous improvement

- Undertake assessment and provide timely, constructive academic feedback

- Support academic advising and student learning where required

- Contribute to the maintenance of academic standards and quality assurance processes

- Support curriculum enhancement in line with accreditation and institutional requirements.

- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent and high-quality academic delivery

The Person

We are seeking a committed and forward-thinking academic with expertise in Construction Management who is passionate about delivering high-quality teaching and enhancing the student learning experience. You will be confident in engaging students at undergraduate and postgraduate level and capable of contributing to curriculum development in a rapidly evolving subject area.

You will hold a PhD in a relevant field (essential), demonstrating strong subject expertise and academic credibility. You will have the ability to deliver engaging teaching and contribute to the development and enhancement of construction management education within a higher education environment.

An established record of peer-reviewed journal publications in a relevant subject area is highly desirable, reflecting your contribution to research and scholarly activity. You will also be expected to be working towards, or willing to engage with, professional recognition and membership of relevant professional bodies.

A Fellowship of Advance HE is desirable, or a clear commitment to working towards this recognition.

Membership of a relevant professional body such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is also desirable, or evidence of active engagement towards membership.

The Faculty

The Department of Civil Engineering, Construction Management and Surveying (CSCM) within the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and the Environment (ECE) at Kingston University is a thriving academic community delivering high-quality, industry-relevant education across construction management, surveying, and civil engineering disciplines.
