HWF is supporting a rapidly growing private equity–backed business in Grimsby as they enter their next phase of scale, investment and operational transformation. With an impressive senior leadership team and a fast-paced environment, they are seeking an experienced Interim Head of Finance to lead the finance function and strengthen reporting, governance and controls.
The Role:
As Interim Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance operation, ensuring robust, timely and accurate reporting while driving improvements in control, governance and financial discipline across the business. You will lead and develop a small but capable finance team and be a key partner to the Finance Director and wider SLT.
Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring clarity, accountability and high performance.
\t
* Own all management and financial reporting, delivering accurate monthly results, variance analysis and commentary.
\t
* Strengthen governance, controls and compliance across the finance function and wider business.
\t
* Oversee balance sheet integrity, cashflow reporting and forecasting.
\t
* Improve financial processes, month-end timelines and reporting quality.
\t
* Support the Finance Director with board reporting, investor information packs and PE stakeholder requirements.
\t
* Drive accountability around financial controls, including:

* Balance sheet reconciliations
\t
* Purchase-to-pay processes
\t
* Company credit cards
\t
* Supply payment controls
\t
* Expense and PO workflows
\t
* Aged debtor oversight
\t
* Pension and payroll compliance
\t
* Act as a visible, hands-on leader who can bring structure, rigour and pace to a high-growth environment.
About You:
\t
* Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong post-qualified experience.
\t
* Proven background in Head of Finance/Financial Controller roles, ideally within PE-backed or fast-paced environments.
\t
* Exceptional financial reporting, technical accounting and control/governance capability.
\t
* Demonstrable experience leading and developing teams.
\t
* Strong stakeholder management and ability to partner with operations, SLT and PE investors.
\t
* Hands-on, pragmatic and able to deliver quickly in an evolving environment.
\t
* Senior-level exposure in a PE-backed environment.
\t
* Ability to shape the finance function and leave a lasting legacy across reporting, controls and team capability.
