1x Trial Manager (Maternity Cover – Secondment Opportunity) Full-Time | Fixed Term (12 months, start dates: between Nov 2025-April 2026)
We are seeking several experienced and motivated Trial Managers to join the Bristol Trials Centre (BTC). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, innovative clinical research within a supportive and collaborative academic environment.
As a Trial Manager, you will lead all aspects of trial management, acting as the key point of contact for stakeholders and overseeing trial conduct from set-up to close-down. You will ensure trials are delivered on time and in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), the Declaration of Helsinki, and all applicable legislation.

What will you be doing?
* Lead the day-to-day management, closure, archiving, and dissemination of the HIPPY trial in accordance with the protocol and BTC SOPs.
* Monitor trial conduct, identifying and resolving issues such as recruitment or retention challenges, and escalating where necessary.
* Prepare and submit applications for regulatory approvals and ensure ongoing compliance with all ethical, legal, and governance requirements.
* Facilitate contractual arrangements and amendments by liaising with sponsors, funders, and collaborators.
* Develop and maintain training materials for trial processes and documentation, ensuring all staff and stakeholders are appropriately trained.
* Oversee data collection and quality, working with the BTC Database team to develop and maintain trial databases, and implementing quality control measures.
* Monitor trial progress against milestones and budgets, verifying external costs and preparing reports for oversight committees and stakeholders.
* Line manage trial staff, including workload delegation, performance management, and recruitment.
* Contribute to wider BTC initiatives and uphold BTC values in all aspects of work.
You should apply if
you have:
* Considerable experience in trial management of multi‑centre randomised controlled trials from start‑up to closure.
* A good understanding of the principles of trial design with an excellent understanding of the regulatory and governance environment in the UK.
* Proven organisational skills and attention to detail, able to organise own time effectively, prioritising to deliver workload to deadlines and to agreed standards.
* Proven analytical and problem‑solving capability, able to diagnose problems, identify key issues, evaluate alternative courses of action, produce an acceptable solution and take effective decisions.
* Ability to motivate and lead a team of researchers and a willingness to pass on own skills and knowledge.

3x open‑ended with funding for 3 years from start date
1 x fixed‑term (mat cover) for 12 months (start dates: between Nov 2025-April 2026) or earlier return of the postholder from mat leave/secondment opportunity for internal applicants
