Brief Description
The successful candidate will offer specialised expertise, support and guidance to the wider Human Resources community on behalf of the Industrial Relations team. You will take the lead on small to medium scale projects and provide support to larger scale projects as required by the Industrial Relations Specialists, ensuring a crucial connection to Network Rail Shared Services.
The successful candidate can be based from London, Manchester or Milton Keynes, with occasional travel required .
About the role (External)
1.Provide expert guidance, responding to Industrial Relations queries from Route & Functional Human Resources colleagues in particular relating to terms and conditions of employment and application of collective agreements in order to resolve issues and increase HR Business Partner’s knowledge.
2.Manage and maintain template contracts of employment with changes required by legislation, collective agreement or business requirements, liaising with relevant HR teams and Shared Services so that terms and conditions remain up to date and their application is relevant.
3.Maintain and improve the terms & conditions matrix so that it is an accurate reference tool for the HR community and employees receive current Terms & Conditions.
4.Be the liaison with Network Rail Shared Services in relation to new contract requests and other payroll system change requirements so that changes can be recorded and effectively built into our payroll systems.
5.Manage small to medium Industrial Relations related projects on behalf of the Industrial Relations Specialists, using knowledge of Terms & Conditions of Employment and Employment Law in order to realise desired benefits.
6.Support the Industrial Relations team with research, and data gathering / analysis for Industrial Relations projects and the development of position papers for recommendations to the business which will result in effective decision making.
7.Proactively maintain an up to date, relevant knowledge of employment law, organisational awareness and Industrial Relations issues / trends in order to be to provide expert advice and guidance.
8.Maintain Industrial Relations team tracker and reporting protocols to meet organisational requirements including periodic scorecards and quarterly business reviews.
9.Support Industrial Relations Specialists in delivering the agenda for National Councils, including researching, and preparing company responses.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
·Successful experience in HR, IR or Payroll within a large multisite complex unionised organisation
·CIPD qualified or equivalent or relevant experience
·In depth knowledge of terms and conditions of employment
·In depth knowledge of HR policies and procedures and employment legislation
·Strong analytical skills and use of databases.
·Experience of successfully resolving HR related management queries
·Expert knowledge of Employment Law e.g. TULR(C)A, Employment Rights Act and TUPE
We would also like but it isn’t crucial to have/to be:
·Experience in a Human Resources generalist role
·Operating experience of employment law
·Rail industry experience
