Overview
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to appoint a substantive Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine to join the team at Royal Blackburn Hospital. The unit currently has 18 Consultant Intensivists and a 28-bed critical care unit.
Responsibilities
* Direct clinical care on a 10 PA contract; initially 8.5 PAs for clinical care and 1.5 PAs of time reserved for SPA. Of the 8.5 PA clinical activity, up to 4 PAs may be available to support clinical activity of interest to the successful candidate. The clinical activity is open to negotiation but must support the organisation's overall clinical strategy.
* Critical care duties including daytime sessions on critical care, the weekly MDT, and on-call duties for the ICU (currently averaging 2.67 PAs per week).
* Work within a diverse team including anaesthesia, long-term ventilation, acute medicine and respiratory medicine.
* Contribute to teaching and training with a focus on trainee development and exam success.
Qualifications
* Experience in Intensive Care Medicine and eligibility for a substantive consultant post.
* Strong communication, leadership and teamwork skills; ability to align clinical activity with organisational strategy.
