About Us
The Paradise Cooperative is a Wandsworth-based charity working towards a future where communities and nature thrive together. Our established Community Programme offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, including our weekend Community Growing sessions, which welcome individuals of all ages and abilities. Based within our biodiverse community garden, our programmes create meaningful opportunities for people to contribute, learn and connect.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate Community Programme Facilitator to lead our weekly volunteer growing sessions. You will play a central role in bringing people together, supporting volunteers of all ages and gardening abilities to develop skills, deepen their connection with nature and contribute meaningfully to the care of our community garden.
This is a dynamic and hands-on role for someone who is excited about sustainable horticulture, biodiversity and community-led growing. You will create a welcoming engaging environment where volunteers can learn, connect and thrive.
While the core of the role focuses on Sunday Community Growing sessions, there may also be opportunities to support additional community workshops on both weekdays and weekends. These will cover a broad range of topics linked to sustainable horticulture, biodiversity and nature-inspired learning
Key Responsibilities
· Work with the Head of Community Gardening to plan and prepare weekly volunteer activities, ensuring tasks are well-organised, purposeful, and aligned with seasonal priorities and the needs of the garden.
· Lead weekly Community Growing sessions, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for volunteers of all ages and abilities. This includes:
o Greeting volunteers and visitors, helping them feel part of a friendly and connected community.
o Communicating the planned tasks for the week and explaining their purpose in promoting sustainable, biodiverse gardening.
o Supporting, supervising and encouraging volunteers as they carry out tasks, offering clear guidance and practical instruction.
o Communicating our mission, vision and values to all volunteers.
· Prepare and deliver a short (5–10 minute) weekly workshop during volunteer sessions, covering accessible topics linked to biodiversity, sustainable gardening and nature connection.
· Prioritise health, safety and wellbeing, ensuring volunteers are safe, supported and informed by:
o Following and contributing to risk assessments and communicating relevant risks to volunteers.
o Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and other organisational policies.
· Support monitoring and evaluation, including completing and distributing volunteer monitoring forms and contributing to ongoing improvements in session delivery.
· Support additional community workshops on both weekdays and weekends as agreed in advance, covering a broad range of nature-inspired and horticultural themes.
· Collaborate with the wider team to support the charity’s long-term strategy.
