Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Home

Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: £34,000 to £36,000 depending on qualification and experience
Shift Pattern: Office hours and occasional late shifts (x 3 per month)
About the Role
Are you a passionate and experienced childcare professional looking to take the next step in your career? We're looking for a committed Deputy Manager to help lead our children's residential home, providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where young people can truly thrive.
As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure high standards of care, compliance with regulations, and the effective running of the home. This is a rewarding leadership role with real potential to make a lasting impact in children's lives.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operations of the home.
* Lead and motivate a dedicated staff team, promoting a positive and child-focused culture.
* Ensure compliance with Ofsted, Children's Homes Regulations (2015), and Quality Standards.
* Oversee and contribute to the development of individual care and placement plans.
* Uphold strong safeguarding and child protection practices at all times.
* Build positive, professional relationships with young people, families, and external agencies.
* Support rota planning, staffing levels, and on-call duties as required.
What We're Looking For
* Experience in a children's residential care setting is essential.
* Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – required.
* Working towards or holding the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare – highly desirable.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and behaviour support strategies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.
