About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team. The prison houses around 1500 men with a variety of health needs and, in this role, you’ll be an integral part of our safe and secure medicines management service. HMP Garth, a Category B prison in Lancashire. The Mental Health Nurses will be based within the healthcare department but will also be working on the prison wings.
Hours:
* Monday - Friday
* 8am - 4pm
Hourly Bank Rate:
* Weekday - £23.00
* Weekends - £24.79
* Bank Holidays - £29.75

What you89ll be doing
As a Bank Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will
* Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
* Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
* Assess patient’s health needs using an evidence-based framework and be able to risk assess using sound clinical knowledge
* Work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a caseload of patients
* Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required
* Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence-based care

Requirements:
* NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
* Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
