Neighbourhood Officer Level 2 (Food, Health & Safety Officer)

Join to apply for the Neighbourhood Officer Level 2 (Food, Health & Safety Officer) role at Manchester City Council.


Key Information

* Working Hours: 35 hours per week
* Contract Type: Full‑Time, Permanent
* Additional Payments: Casual Car User Allowance

Qualifications & Registration

* Degree qualification in Environmental Health is required.
* EHRB registration or Chartered Status with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) is required.
* Exceptional Environmental Health graduates/apprentices or those very soon to be registered/chartered officers will be considered on development roles.


Other Requirements

* Casual Car User – The candidate may need to use a car occasionally. Must hold a full valid driving licence and provide own car where required. An allowance per mile of business use will be provided.
* Driving Licence – A full clean driving licence is required if the role involves driving a council vehicle.
* DBS – A standard disclosure and barring service check will be required. Candidates must apply for a DBS check; information will be handled confidentially.


Responsibilities

* Manage a busy and varied workload in a friendly and supportive team.
* Focus on inspection programmes, responding to service requests, undertaking investigations and sampling.
* Work across food hygiene, food standards and health and safety disciplines.
* Collaborate with Primary Authority partnerships.
* Potential future duties at Manchester Airport border control posts.
* Work rota attracts 6.7 % flexibility payment, stand‑by payment and essential car allowance.
