These post is based at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals. We are keen to foster individual interests within Anaesthesia and will encourage continued development with a job planning review and appraisal.
Main duties of the job
The majority of the job plan is based at Heatherwood hospital with some sessions at Wexham Hospital as well. The successful candidate will be responsible for provision of anaesthesia in theatres including pre-operative assessment, post operative analgesia and follow up when indicated. The duties also include provision of long day cover during weekdays (Bleep Holder Anaesthetist) at the Heatherwood hospital.

Department of Anaesthetics and Intensive Care consists of
1. 31 consultants
2. 19 Specialty doctors
3. 16 Trainees ST5 CT1s from the Oxford rotation (HETV)
4. 3 pain specialist nurses
5. 1 full Office Manager and 1 full time and 1 part time staff for secretarial support
6. 1 full time ITU secretary
7. 5 pain secretary
8. Full registration with the GMC
9. Post graduate qualification in Anaesthesia
Desirable
10. Part 1 FRCA or equivalent
11. ALS/APLS
12. EDRA
Teaching
Essential
13. Experience of Audit
14. Evidence of effective leadership skills
15. Experience of teaching doctors-in-training
16. Good spoken and written communication skills
17. Able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Desirable
18. Demonstrate commitment through involvement in Trust wide initiatives
Experience
Essential
19. minimum of 4 years (or equivalent) postgraduate training in anaesthesia
20. Experience in the UK and NHS
21. Broad general experience in anaesthesia including preoperative assessment
22. Proficiency in regional anaesthesia and anaesthesia for joint arthroplasties
23. Sufficient organisational, communication, professional and personal skills to undertake the role of Specialty Doctor

24. Advanced training / special interest in pre assessment, regional anaesthesia
25. Day case anaesthesia experience
26. Trauma anaesthesia
27. Knowledge of organisation of the NHS
