TPF Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a fast-growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Guildford that is looking to recruit an experienced Tax Manager to join its expanding team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-office firm with a strong presence across the South East, offering a full suite of accountancy, tax and advisory services to a broad and diverse client base, including owner-managed businesses and private individuals.

The Role
As a Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients, delivering both compliance and advisory services while also supporting the development of the wider tax team.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Managing a portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients, with a focus on owner-managed businesses
* Delivering tax compliance work and handling client queries independently
* Providing advisory services across areas such as inheritance tax, capital gains tax, estate planning and R&D claims
* Preparing and reviewing tax computations and returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance
* Reviewing work completed by junior team members and maintaining high technical standards
* Managing and developing a team, including training, mentoring and workload planning
* Overseeing deadlines, workflow and project delivery across the tax function
* Liaising with senior leadership on client matters and technical issues
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and HMRC
* Supporting business development activities and networking with new and existing clients
* Managing budgets and multiple client projects effectively
The Ideal Candidate
* ATT qualified, ideally CTA qualified
* Approximately 4-5 years’ experience within a tax role in an accountancy practice
* Strong personal tax experience, with exposure to corporate tax and advisory work being advantageous
* Excellent technical knowledge of current UK tax legislation
* Proven experience reviewing work and managing or mentoring a team
* Strong communication skills, with confidence dealing directly with clients and HMRC
* Experience using tax and accountancy software, ideally IRIS or similar
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
