Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Harlow, Essex – Hertfordshire Border
Permanent | Up to £55,000 per annum (DOE)
Our client, a leading manufacturer of bespoke machinery, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. This is a key role for a seasoned professional who thrives on designing innovative special purpose equipment and conveyor systems, and who can take ownership of projects from concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design and development of complex machinery and mechanical systems.
* Produce detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings in line with ISO standards.
* Specify proprietary components and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), ideally using SAP.
* Ensure all designs comply with current HSE machinery safety regulations.
* Provide technical support during production, assembly, and testing phases.
* Prepare layout drawings, technical manuals, and risk assessments.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in mechanical design for special purpose machinery.
* Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, and Microsoft Office.
* Strong detailing skills across machined, fabricated, and sheet metal components.
* Solid understanding of machinery safety standards and risk assessment procedures.
* A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to mentor junior engineers (a plus).
