We are delighted to be working with a long-established and growing steel fabrication company based in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, who are now seeking a talented and driven CAD Design Engineer to join their dynamic technical team.

Their commitment to quality and innovation is underpinned by advanced technical capabilities, including 3D modelling, rendering, scanning, printing, and FEA analysis.
This exciting role offers the opportunity to work in a highly skilled team, contributing to product development, client projects, and continual process improvement. You’ll have the chance to apply your CAD expertise in a practical, hands-on engineering environment and be involved in both the office-based design process and occasional site visits.
The ideal candidate will be expected to take ownership of technical design tasks, manage multiple projects with accuracy and attention to detail, and liaise confidently with both customers and internal teams. In return, the successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of up to £35,000 per annum (DOE), alongside a range of excellent company benefits including 25 days annual leave, free on-site parking, and access to specialist training.
Creating accurate CAD drawings and 3D models to support project and product development
Preparing detailed costings and Bill of Materials (BOM) using input from customer enquiries and design data
Liaising professionally with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met
Managing and updating technical documentation, including design files and cost analyses
Attending customer facilities and project sites for discussions and technical clarification when required
Carrying out precise site measurements using surveying equipment to support design work
Assisting with elements of project management as part of a wider technical and production team
Experience working within an engineering or fabrication environment (fencing, gantries, bridge rail structures etc)
Proficient in CAD and 3D modelling software, ideally AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Degree or HNC/HND in an engineering discipline is desirable but not essential
Full UK driving licence required for travel to site locations as needed
