The Distribution Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the Food Bank's distribution operations. This position assists the Operations Warehouse Manager by overseeing day-to-day distribution activities, ensuring partner agencies and community programs receive food in a safe, accurate, and timely manner. The role leads distribution staff and volunteers, coordinates schedules, and provides hands-on support to ensure smooth operations, while escalating larger operational or personnel decisions to senior management.
Requirements
Distribution Support
* Assist in coordinating daily food distribution activities including staging, scheduling, check-in, and product loading.
* Ensure partner agencies receive accurate orders and that food is handled safely and efficiently.
* Monitor distribution areas to maintain organization, safety, and efficient traffic flow.
* Provide support to warehouse staff to ensure orders are staged and ready on time.
* Troubleshoot minor distribution issues and escalate complex problems to the Operations Warehouse Manager
* Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and provide guidance to ensure smooth workflow.
* Train staff and volunteers in food safety, customer service, and warehouse procedures.
* Maintain collaborative, safe, and team-oriented environment.
Agency & Customer Service
* Serve as a support contact for partner agencies during distribution activities.
* Communicate clearly with agencies about order discrepancies, substitutions, and food safety practices.
* Collect required distribution documentation and submit it to the Operations team for review.
Documentation & Inventory Support
* Verify orders prior to distribution and document discrepancies, damages, or shortages.
* Maintain accurate distribution logs, receipts, and agency signoffs for supervisor review.
* Support food rotation practices (FIFO/FEFO) to preserve product quality.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* 2–3 years of warehouse or distribution experience, preferably in a nonprofit or food bank setting.
* Supervisory or lead experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Strong team leadership and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
* Familiarity with warehouse systems and Microsoft Office.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Licenses & Certifications
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
* Forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
* Food safety training is preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
* Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting in a warehouse setting.
* Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments as needed.
