Hours: 32.5 hours per week – Monday – Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm You will attend training days on a pro rata basis as detailed in the Scheme for the Employment of Teaching Assistants. Contract Status: A fixed term contract initially until 31/07/2026 which will then be reviewed. Support and training: This will be provided by Teachers and SENDco Line Management: You will work under the direction of Teachers and the Deputy Head Teacher Salary Grade: Band D £17,311.37 actual salary (Negotiable depending on experience) Closing date: 13/10/2025 Job Purpose: The successful applicant will work under the guidance and supervision of the class teacher/SENDco to support a child with complex needs. We take a very robust approach to Safeguarding within our community and expect all staff and volunteers to do the same. Please note that Learning Support Assistants new to Warwickshire are required to successfully complete a DBS Successful candidates will be contacted to be notified of interview by email on: 15/10/2025 Interviews will be held on: 20/10/2025 Onwards For reasons of time economy we do not notify applicants who are not shortlisted. MAIN AREAS OF SUPPORT TO BE PROVIDED: To the individual pupil and others on his/her table working at the same task This will include: Explaining tasks Reinforcing key objectives, concepts and vocabulary Using practical apparatus Assisting the pupil to maintain attention and concentration and providing reinforcement of teacher instruction as necessary Being familiar with outline lesson plans for those lessons where support is being provided Supporting access to tasks for the pupil by offering and modelling learning strategies appropriate to his needs Supporting the pupil in working towards targets on his target cards Helping the pupil to contribute to the plenary in lessons Assessing the pupil during lessons and sharing your observations with the teacher Promoting independence and self esteem Supporting the child during lunchtimes To teachers The post involves working with the child’s class teacher and his support teacher in English and maths lessons. This will include: Being actively involved in the day to day management of the learning environment including responsibility for the preparation and care of teaching aids, equipment and materials Liaising with appropriate staff about learning objectives for the pupil Monitoring individual/group achievements, progress and responses to learning activities and objectives and providing feedback to the teacher Recording information relevant to the assessment and review of pupil’s progress including entering marks and grades on a spreadsheet using ICT Undertaking marking of the pupil’s work e.g. spellings, mental maths tests Supporting strategies to promote positive behaviour Undertaking admin tasks as appropriate e.g. photocopying For the curriculum Supporting the use of devices in learning activities and as teaching tool General duties In addition to the specific duties listed above the successful candidate will: Help with first aid at playtimes and help with playground duty Undertake routine administrative tasks e.g. filing Assist in the day to day management of the learning environment e.g. preparing and clearing learning resources, reporting faulty or damaged items to the teacher, contributing to class and school displays, preparation of art areas etc. Assist in the management of pupil behaviour in the class room and in the day to day movement around the school Be aware of the Child Protection Policy and report any concerns to the Head Teacher od DSLs. Participate in training provided and Performance Management review and make use of professional development opportunities Maintain confidentiality according to organisation and legal requirements, adhere to and maintain school policies, routines and codes of conduct and support the positive ethos of the school Be aware of and put into practice Equal Opportunities and Race Equality Policies Be aware of Health and Safety Policy and seek to prevent accidents. Report accidents and near misses to the Head of School or Mrs Clarke
