About The Role
Herefordshire Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our Assessment Team and help us improve outcomes for children and families. The role provides you with a child‑focused, timely approach to referrals, assessment, investigation and decision‑making.
Key Details
* Job Title: Social Worker Assessment Team
* Hours: 37 per week
* Salary: HC8 £36,363 - £40,777 per annum (plus £5,000 market rate supplement per year £41,363 - £45,777)
* Welcome payment: £10,000 (see attached guidance)
* Relocation package: up to £10,000 available
* Contract: Permanent
* Location: Multiple locations: Ross-on-Wye, Leominster and Hereford
* Closing date: 09/11/2025
Responsibilities
* Work directly with children, families and partner agencies to respond to referrals in a child‑focused, timely manner.
* Carry out assessments, investigate concerns and write reports to support decision‑making on appropriate support.
* Manage a complex caseload and demonstrate honed skills in assessment and report writing.
Qualifications
* Fully qualified (DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent).
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in statutory social care.
* Strong assessment, report writing and caseload management skills.
