GSK seeks an experienced, strategic, and dynamic leader as the VP, Global Head, Platform Sciences. The VP, Global Head, Platform Sciences will report directly to the SVP, Development and will be responsible for developing and implementing a global strategic vision for the Platform Sciences team in GSK’s Development function. This position will oversee biomarker and bioanalytical laboratories under Good Clinical Practice (GCP), clinical biomarker operations, Clinical Pharmacology Modelling and Simulation (CPMS) Systems and Tools development, biobank management, central lab outsourcing, and ensuring compliance with human biological sample management (HBSM). This position will also engage extensively with all Therapeutical Area teams, including oncology, respiratory, immunology, inflammation, HIV/infectious diseases, Research Technologies, and other Development groups.

Key Responsibilities:



* Lead a global team of experienced scientific leaders and technical subject matter experts to oversee and execute the end-to-end workflow from sample collection, shipment, laboratory testing, to data reporting, ensuring quality and timely delivery and acceleration of clinical study data.
* Engage with senior R&D leaders and collaborate with global cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of Platform Sciences in R&D success.
* Manage the strategic direction and operational execution of biomarker, immunogenicity, and bioanalytical lab assay development and sample testing, supporting the medicine portfolio across all therapeutic modalities from First Time in Human (FTIH) trials to global filings.
* Partner with CPMS colleagues in Research Units on Systems and Tools development and deployment and create a community of practice to enable consistency of CPMS in R&D.
* Provide oversight for clinical biomarker operations, lab operational study management and central lab activities to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across global operations.
* Implement best practices for biobank operations and HBSM to ensure the ethical, compliant, and efficient handling of human biological sample storages and re-use.
* Ensure global compliance with GCP, regulatory requirements, and industry standards for biomarker, immunogenicity, and bioanalytical research, biobank management, lab operational studies, central lab activities, and HBSM.
* Manage the global budget, resources, and infrastructure for Platform Sciences team, optimizing allocation to meet strategic objectives.


Please note: This position requires an on-site office -based presence 2 to 3 days a week in the UK (Stevenage); or US (Upper Providence, PA.)

Basic Qualifications:


* PhD in a scientific field.
* 20+ years of experience in biomarker and bioanalytical sciences, CPMS tools, biomarker operations, biobank management, lab operational study management, central lab oversight, and HBSM gained in either or both the pharmaceutical or private laboratory /drug development global life sciences industry.
* Experience with the drug development process and the application and value of platform sciences in advancing clinical development and project accelerations.
* Experience leading global multidisciplinary, functional, line and matrix teams.
* Experience in GCP, regulatory requirements, and guidelines pertaining to biomarker and bioanalytical research, biobank management, lab operational studies, central lab activities, and HBSM.
* Experience with platform technologies and their application in clinical development.


Preferred Qualifications:


* Track record of strategic planning and execution in a complex, global organization.
* Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Deep understanding of the drug development process and the application and value of platform sciences in advancing clinical development and project accelerations. Platform Sciences group perform the clinical lab testing supporting all therapeutic areas (respiratory, immunology and inflammation, oncology, HIV, and infectious diseases), all medicine modalities (e.g., NCE, mAb, oligos, ADCs, T-cell engagers).
* High level of proficiency in organizational strategy and development, strong alignment with R&D objectives, and the drive to foster innovation to enhance team expertise in meeting future pipeline requirements.
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
