Role Purpose
To accelerate growth in the commercial HVAC sector. This role is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities with contractors, consultants, developers, and facility managers across commercial and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development Strategy & Prospecting
o Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities in commercial HVAC projects within a defined sector e.g. office buildings, retail complexes, student accommodation etc.
o Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospects through cold calling, bid portals, trade shows, and industry associations.
o Build relationships with consultants, contractors, architects, and developers to position the company early in the project lifecycle.
Market & Competitive Awareness
o Stay informed on commercial HVAC technologies, energy-efficiency trends, green building standards, and regulatory requirements.
o Monitor competitive offerings and identify differentiation opportunities.
o Provide feedback to management on market gaps, pricing trends, and customer demands.
Prospect & Client Engagement
o Engage with key decision-makers in commercial projects, including project managers, consultants, and facilities directors.
o Uncover client requirements related to system design, energy efficiency, lifecycle costs, and compliance.
o Lead the development of proposals and bids that deliver tailored HVAC solutions.
Execution & Sales Discipline
o Consistently deliver on sales KPIs and revenue targets specific to commercial HVAC projects.
o Manage the early stages of the sales cycle: lead identification → qualification.
o Maintain accurate pipeline visibility and reporting using CRM tools.
Communication & Influence
o Translate HVAC technical capabilities into business outcomes such as reduced operating costs, compliance, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
o Support the preparation of RFP/RFQ responses, tenders, and detailed proposals to win competitive bids.
Drive, Resilience & Adaptability
o Demonstrate resilience in long and complex commercial project sales cycles.
o Maintain momentum across multiple bids and negotiations simultaneously.
o Adapt quickly to regulatory, market, and client-driven changes.
o Exhibit persistence and competitiveness in a highly contested market.
Continuous Improvement
o Identify opportunities to streamline sales processes and improve workflow efficiency.
o Collaborate with RSMs, marketing and management to refine CRM usage, reporting structures, and task assignment logic.
o Actively contribute feedback on tool performance (e.g. Barbour, NBS Source) and support the development of best practices.
o Participate in regular reviews to evaluate internal systems and suggest actionable improvements to drive better team performance.
Qualifications & Experience
· Minimum 3–5 years' experience in business development or sales
· Proven track record of hunting new business opportunities and consistently exceeding sales targets.
Knowledge & Skills
· Ability to build a strong network of relationships with consultants, contractors, and developers in the HVAC/building services sector
· Strong prospecting, lead generation, and pipeline management skills, with experience using CRM tools.
· Excellent negotiation and closing skills

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
