Working disabled actor seeking new carer/pa

London
Actor
Posted: 27 December
Offer description

Hey! I’m Maya, an actor living in Islington. I have a physical disability and use a manual wheelchair. Next year I will be performing in 2 West End productions and I’m on the lookout for a new part time carer to support me during this process. I’m looking for someone who is hard-working, reliable, kind, has a good sense of humour, an independent thinker and who cares about doing a good job.
I’m looking for a new carer to join my care team taking on roughly 10 - 20hrs per week over 2 to 3 days (hrs are open to negotiation/flexibility). The pay rate is £16 per hour. Shifts will involve a structured mix of weekday mornings and evenings, with some longer weekend shifts where needed. Shifts will be discussed and distributed amongst the care team and a schedule will be drawn up and updated in advance.
The aim of the job is to support me with my personal care needs so I can work and thrive in London. Duties will include assisting me with care in the mornings/evenings, supporting me during rehearsals with costume changes etc, cooking, food shopping, keeping my home tidy/clean. The role may also involve helping me to travel around locally (such as to and from rehearsals), and assisting me with any physiotherapy/exercise routines. Due to the demanding nature of my work there will potentially be an option for longer shifts throughout the week when arranged in advance. There is a genuine occupational need for female applicants only.
A little about me: I love travelling, writing, cheese, festivals and gals nights out! I enjoy getting cosy in front of the TV after a long day. Some of my favourite shows include The Last of Us, Bridgerton, Heartstopper and Modern Family! I try to always live my life to the full while having a laugh along the way!
All students are welcome to apply. Previous care experience is strongly preferred, ideally with experience in personal care or supporting someone with a physical disability, although I will consider all applicants with a passion for care and helping others regardless of experience and qualifications.
The post will start from 6th January 2025. If you feel you may be a good fit for this position, but are unable to begin immediately, please still get in touch.
If you are interested, please get in touch with me ASAP with a cover letter including a bit about yourself, your availability, your qualifications and experience, and how many hours per week you would be interested in. A CV is preferred.
