Your new companySouthend-on-Sea City Council's new Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) consists of subject-matter experts specialising in domestic abuse, drug and alcohol support, mental health support for adults and children and systemic family therapy. MDT workers bring specialist knowledge and therapeutic insight. Their expertise is instrumental in engaging families in direct intervention and supporting sustainable change.The MDT team is situated within frontline social work teams. The interventions from MDT are delivered within the community and/ or in the families' homes.This is an exciting time for Children's Social Work, and we are seeking experienced, motivated and passionate individuals to join the new dynamic Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).Led by the Team Manager, you will help create the conditions for sustainable change, working alongside a diverse team of subject-matter experts.
Your new roleThe team are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent, experienced Domestic Abuse Prevention Specialist.The welfare and safety of victims/survivors, children and young people, and vulnerable adults is paramount. Working alongside the Assessment & Intervention and Family Support & Protection Teams, the Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker will take timely and appropriate action to safeguard vulnerable adults and children in every aspect of their work.
The specialist will be required to deliver intervention to children impacted by domestic abuse in one-to-one sessions and with the potential for group work. They will also contribute to a multi-agency assessment and management of risk to victims/survivors and children affected by domestic abuse and proactively secure service user engagement and influence behaviour change.They will be able to understand the multi-agency partnership structures and work within these settings. Establish ongoing multi-agency connections and relationships for the benefit of children and their family. Be able to support the empowerment of service users and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation and support them effect change.
Other Key factors
* Deliver behaviour change interventions using a range of skills to engage service users and reduce risk to victims/survivors and children.
* Maintain timely, accurate and confidential case management records and contribute to the work of the team.
* Participate in regular case management reviews within the Multi-Disciplinary Team and your line manager based on a review of risk and abuse which feeds back into action planning to further progress, signpost, or close cases, and provides feedback to your clients/agencies and informs future case management.
* Contribute to data and written reports with effective case data input and through the provision of case studies to illustrate the impact of the service for domestic abuse victims, survivors and children.
* Engage in supervision both individually and through group supervision.
Whilst this position is predominately on site at Southend City Council, working from home options are available, but will depend on the needs of the team.
What you'll need to succeedTo be shortlisted for this position, it is essential that you are degree educated within a relevant field, i.e. social work, psychology, counselling, nursing, or demonstrate substantial relevant experience working with domestic violence interventions and delivery of programmes.
Suitable experience would ideally be with direct work with children but also with working with adults impacted by and perpetrating abuse. You must have detailed knowledge relating to safeguarding children, social work practice as well as knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, guidance & policy issues relating to domestic violence.Be able to demonstrate significant experience in developing support packages, accurate recording, and thorough assessments, all delivered in line with trauma-informed principles that prioritise safety, trust, and empowerment.
The post holder will have evidence of excellent practice and participation in casework, recording and assessment. Having strong experience in partnership working is essential for this role, as it will operate in a multi-agency environment.
