Function – Despatch
Title – Bakery Assistant
Job Statement
The Bakery Assistant in Despatch is responsible for ensuring orders are picked correctly, safely and in a timely fashion. They will follow all health and safety and food safety regulations and highlight any issues immediately.
Task
* Accurately case picking according to customer orders.
* Ensure all picked items match the correct quantity and product specifications.
* Handle cases with care to prevent damage and maintain quality.
* Follow health and safety, hygiene, and food safety regulations at all times.
* Operate warehouse equipment (pallet trucks, hand scanners etc.) safely and efficiently.
* Work closely with the despatch team to ensure timely order completion.
* Assist with stock replenishment, rotation, and general housekeeping.
* Report any discrepancies, damaged goods, or shortages to the despatch L3 or FLM.
* Meet daily performance targets while maintaining high accuracy levels.
Skill
Essential:
* Previous experience in a warehouse or picking/packing role
* Basic numeracy and literacy skills
* Ability to follow instructions and work to deadlines
* Good attention to detail and accuracy
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
Desirable:
* Experience in a food distribution environment
* Familiarity with using handheld scanners or warehouse management systems
* Forklift or pallet truck experience (if applicable)
