An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Medical Secretary in the Oncology Department. The post holder will be responsible for a comprehensive, confidential and efficient secretarial service to the Oncology department, including the Consultant Oncologists, their junior staff and the Oncology Team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as they will be liaising with a wide variety of personnel at all levels both internal and external to the Health Board and from numerous external organisations.

We are looking for an individual who can manage the day to day running of the office, their workload, use their own initiative and who is able to cope with tight and multiple deadlines, in a constant changing environment.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential criteria

1. Educated to vocational level 4 or able to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge skills and experiences Or RSA /OCR level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience plus Medical Terminology ECDL or equivalent experience
2. Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft office applications
3. Evidence of Continual Personal Development

Desirable criteria

4. City & Guilds (AMSPAR) Level 3 Diploma in Medical administration
5. NVQ 3 Customer Service
6. ILM Level 2
7. NHS Statutory and Mandatory Training
8. ESR self-serve(or equivalent experience of application)
9. Knowledge of Referral To Treatment process (RTT)

Experience

Essential criteria

10. Experience of coordinating administration activities.
11. Experience of working as a medical secretary
12. Experience of organising workload and people

Desirable criteria

13. Experience of working in within the NHS

20. Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
